Macy is being fostered in Memphis, TN.
Hello there! I'm Macy, and I want to play!! I'm a 3yo blind Catahoula (approx DOB 5/12), but don't think that gets in my way, because I just run and jump and am constantly on the go. I love to play with EVERYBODY (except cats, which I truly believe taste like chicken!!) and don't believe for a second that I'm not as big as my Dane foster brothers and sisters. I play with them constantly and really need active dogs in my home. I love cookies and playing and cuddling, and basically just love life. My foster mom says that I'm half jackrabbit, because when I'm outside, I hop and hop like I a little gazelle. I probably couldn't be an only dog, because I just need a companion, but I don't care if they're big or little or what sex or color or anything of that nature...I'm an equal opportunity playmate! You need to know though that on the leash, I know NO fear!! I need a seeing-eye-human, because I will just play and jump and hop and romp until I feel tension on the leash, and then I know my human is looking out for me and keeping me safe. I do love to cuddle, and when my foster mom pulls me up into her lap, I just embrace the experience and throw my cute little face over her shoulder to cuddle with her. And I just love it when she kisses my face...she calls that giving her some Mace-face! All in all, my foster mom says I'm a complete doll and will make any active family the perfect baby.
The intake info: This is Macy, a 5mo blind baby girl with a super sad beginning. A man was driving down a country road when he saw a dog lying motionless on the side of the road. Assuming the dog was hit by a car and was dead, the man continued driving, however, on his way back past the dog, she raised up her head. This kind man stopped and discovered that she was in fact not hit and not even injured (only slightly malnourished and covered in fleas), but obviously blind. So we can only assume that this terrified baby, unable to find her way in the middle of nowhere, simply laid down and gave up (If that doesn’t bring tears to your eyes!!....to be 3mos old and lost, but 3mos old and lost AND blind, how terrifying!). This girl is the most loving and playful little thing and was the belle of the ball at our recent event, stealing every heart that passed by. All you have to do is speak, and that tail starts wagging like crazy, because she just loves everyone.
Mary is being fostered in the Memphis area.
Hello, hello! My name is Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary! Or at least that’s what my foster mom always says when she’s calling my name and being silly. If you don’t know the nursery rhyme, I hear there’s a thing called Google, that is amazing! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary,_Mary,_Quite_Contrary). I am a 50lb, 1yo Catahoula Leopard Dog, but I don’t like labels and am a lover of all! I came into Memphis’s high kill shelter as a stray, and they thought I was a Dane mix. NMSGDR didn’t care that I wasn’t their breed, because they saw my beautiful soul and my bum eye and took me in anyway. I have cherry eye, for which I am about to undergo surgery. Other than that, I am 100% ready and waiting for my forever home. My foster mom says that I deserve an active forever family with dogs, kids, cats, livestock, or whatever life can bring me. But I’ve heard her say that secretly she would love me to stay in her life forever, because I’m such a doll…but she knows that I will make a forever family so happy, and she wants that for me…awwww! Ok, that brought a tear (a happy tear) to my eye, so I digress!
I get along great with all animals and will encourage any to be my friend and won’t stop coaxing or batting my eyelashes until we become friends. Since being in foster, I have melted some of the harder Dane hearts and have gotten them to play and romp/wrestle with me when they normally didn’t play before. I have tried to convince the two cats to play, but they haven’t complied as of yet. Don’t worry, because I’m still working on them. They just want to cuddle, but I want to play! My foster home is next door to a cow pasture, and I have to admit that I sometimes slip under that fence and try to play with the cows and the donkey! Some of the cows (especially the youngens) have been receptive and have hopped around with me, but that donkey is another story! He will be a harder nut to crack! My foster mom says I’m so intent on making friends that it’s like I’m on a mission. I say there could be worse missions to be on!!
I love kids and really anyone who gives me any attention. But I’m still a puppy and have a ton of energy, which sometimes gets the best of me, so I have to be reminded sometimes not to jump up for love. When you scold me, I will just fall to the ground and show you my belly. It’s hard to be mad at a baby when they’re this cute!! My foster mom gives my belly raspberries, and I just LOVE that!! She says, “I’m gonna raspberry you!”, and I immediately roll over. It’s so funny and gets us both tickled! I love to sleep in the bed with my humans and snuggle and share their pillow, but I’m also content being with my 4-legged siblings at night. My foster mom jokes and says that I’m the smallest dog in the house, but I snore like a lumberjack. She tells too many secrets!!
Anyway, if you are an active family complete with dogs and/or kids, and you are looking to add a family member, I would love to talk to you! And if your 4-leggeds aren’t sure, tell them to make a play date with me! I’ll convince them!
I am an approximately 6 mo kitten who accidentally hitched a
ride from Tupelo, MS to Memphis, TN after the NMSGDR folks were doing an
event,or at least that's all they can figure, is that I ended up in the truck
somehow, because no siblings could be found, just me. I am a little more
of an independent kitty and can deal with dogs or other cats just fine, but I
often go off to myself and just chill by myself. But aren't I cute?!?!
I am a 1 yo black male cat who just loves friendly
dogs! My best friend is a blind/deaf Great Dane named Gracie. She
licks my ears and checks on me all the time, and I have to reassure her that
I'm ok, by rolling over on my back or pawing at her face and nuzzling her
(she's blind, ya know!). I am a very outgoing boy and love
everyone. I came to NMSGDR, because I came up to my foster dad in a
parking lot and had a crazy worm thing embedded in my neck. I can't
remember what they called it, but it was creepy! He rushed me to the vet,
and I've been an inside kitty ever since. Do you have any dogs that need
nuzzling?? Because if so, I'm your cat!
